July 3, 2026; In an official statement, the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) confirmed the assassination of "Soran Mohammadzadeh," a member of its general organization. The party stated that Mohammadzadeh was assassinated in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq by "mercenaries" tied to the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to the statement, which was drafted on July 2 and published via the party's official media channels on July 3, Soran Mohammadzadeh was assassinated on the evening of Friday, June 26, 2026. The party noted that the operation was carried out by "an IRGC intelligence mercenary team using local collaborators," adding that his body was laid to rest one week later.

The Kurdistan Freedom Party did not disclose specific operational details of the assassination in its statement. The group explained that while it had gathered detailed information regarding the mechanics of the attack within hours of the incident, it deliberately withheld publishing immediate statements or further specifics to prevent the Islamic Republic from gaining intelligence leverage.

Reports regarding the incident had previously circulated widely across social media networks. Honar Ahmad, a journalist and documentary filmmaker based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, noted on his Instagram page during the initial days following the event that Mohammadzadeh’s body had been discovered inside a hotel in Erbil. In a subsequent post, Ahmad alleged that the perpetrator responsible for the assassination had already fled back to Iran.

To date, mainstream media outlets in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the local judiciary have not released any official information regarding the case.
