August 23, 2026; During the 6th International Invention and Innovation Competition for IFIA INV Title Holders, held virtually from July 3 to 5, 2026, under the supervision of the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, "Negin Hosseini", a young inventor from Saqqez, successfully won a gold medal by presenting a scientific and practical project.
This innovation, scientifically titled "Bifacial Temperature-Regulating Wall Using Phase Change Materials and Nano-Reflective Coating", was registered in the field of sustainable technology development and energy consumption optimization.
Utilizing both nano-reflective coatings and phase change materials (PCMs) simultaneously, this new technology manages thermal energy smartly and balances indoor building temperatures without the need for electricity, sensors, or control systems. Experimental and simulation results indicate that this design can reduce indoor temperature fluctuations by up to 60 percent and decrease energy consumption in cooling and heating equipment by 25 to 30 percent.
In addition to its use in new urban, commercial, and industrial construction, this technology can also be implemented as prefabricated panels for installation on existing buildings.
Winning this international gold medal by a Kurdish woman researcher and innovator serves as a prominent example of women's scientific capabilities and their effective role in developing environmental innovations and sustainable technologies.
