August 21, 2026; Yesterday, "Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh", a 49-year-old Kurdish woman from the city of Saqqez, was killed by her ex-husband, "Omid Feizi", who inflicted over 20 knife wounds and severe physical violence upon her. She was the mother and sole provider of a 16-year-old son, earning a living by working at a taxi agency and doing agricultural farm work. She and her child had repeatedly been threatened with murder by "Omid Feizi", and the court had recently issued a prison sentence and fine against "Feizi" due to his violence and threats.

An informed source confirmed this news to Kurdpa, stating: On Thursday, August 20, 2026, while "Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh" was returning from passenger transport work from the village of "Yowrqol" to the city of Saqqez, she was attacked on the "Qarah Naw" road by her ex-husband, "Omid Feizi". "Feizi" killed her by inflicting more than 20 knife wounds and committing severe assault that fractured her body bones and jaw, leaving her body on the side of the road.

Regarding the history of separation and repeated threats against "Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh", this informed source stated that she had separated from "Omid Feizi" last year, but remained under life-threatening danger from her ex-husband following the divorce. The severity of these threats led Ms. Mohammad-Zadeh to file a legal complaint against him. Three days prior to her murder, the court had issued a prison sentence and fine against "Omid Feizi" for violence and threats, a ruling Ms. Mohammad-Zadeh was informed of upon visiting the court. Nevertheless, "Omid Feizi" proceeded to murder her shortly thereafter.

According to the source, owing to "Omid Feizi's" repeated violence against Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh even after their separation, the court had installed cameras inside her vehicle to enhance her security. However, during the crime, the killer tore out the cameras and media unit inside the car; these items are currently held by the Criminal Investigation Department (Agahi).

The informed source added that "Omid Feizi" has not yet been arrested. Yesterday, CID officers initially stated at the scene that Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh had been killed with 6 knife wounds, but the Forensic Medicine Office determined that she received over 20 knife strikes and bore fractures to her jaw and body bones.

Regarding Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh's life and history of abuse, the source noted that she had no children with "Omid Feizi", but had two children from her first marriage. Her first child died in a traffic accident in 2007 or 2008, while her second child is currently 16 years old and was under Latifeh's guardianship.

Having married at age 18, she divorced her first husband by court decree due to his addiction. Her marriage to "Omid Feizi" occurred under pressure from relatives, including an uncle, as "Omid Feizi" was his business partner. According to the source, Latifeh was deprived of any right to object to the marriage, and "Omid Feizi" exploited this situation to subject her to severe violence and beatings.

Although some family members offered support, whenever Latifeh sought refuge with them, "Omid Feizi" forced her to return home by threatening to throw acid on her son or kill him if she did not return.

Following her separation from "Omid Feizi", Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh covered the living expenses for herself and her child by working in wheat fields, picking apples, weeding agricultural land, and working for a passenger transport agency.

"Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh" was born in 1976 and was scheduled to celebrate her 50th birthday on August 23, 2026. Her 16-year-old son, who was under her care, is now left without a mother.

On Friday noon, August 21, 2026, the body of "Latifeh Mohammad-Zadeh" was laid to rest at the Aichi Cemetery in Saqqez.
