Border Regions; Kurdish Citizen from the Kurdistan Region, Rebaz Soleiman, Killed by IRGC Dushka Machine-Gun Fire
July 12, 2026; Over the past few days, a Kurdish citizen from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, who was herding his livestock in the "Sidakan" border areas, lost his life following sustained Dushka machine-gun fire by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in this border zone. Subsequently, his body and all of his livestock were seized by military forces, and his body was returned to his family today, Sunday.
According to information from the Kurdpa Human Rights Organization, on the afternoon of Friday, July 10, 2026 (19 Tir 1405), "Rebaz Soleiman Saleh," a 26-year-old Kurdish citizen from the Kurdistan Region, was herding his livestock in the "Khnereh" border heights in the Sidakan area of Erbil province. He fell asleep while resting, and his livestock drifted close to the Iranian border lines. Upon waking up, as he attempted to retrieve his livestock, he was directly targeted by Dushka gunfire from one of the military bases of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and died instantly. Following this, military forces seized his body and his sheep and transferred them inside Iran.
Media outlets in the Kurdistan Region announced that his body was being held at a hospital in Urmia and was repatriated to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq today, Sunday, July 12, 2026. Furthermore, his seized sheep, numbering between 450 and 850 heads, were transferred by IRGC forces to Oshnavieh county, and the process of returning them is currently underway through coordination between both sides.
