Urmia Prison; Kaziveh Parviznia Remains in Detention and Legal Limbo After More Than Two Weeks
June 28, 2026; “Kaziveh Parviznia,” a young woman from Mahabad who was arrested by security forces more than two weeks ago, has been transferred to Urmia Central Prison following an undisclosed period of interrogation and the registration of a formal legal case against her. She continues to be held in a state of legal limbo.
An informed source confirmed the details to Kurdpa, stating that Kaziveh Parviznia was arrested by security forces more than two weeks ago (estimated around June 12, 2026). Following her arrest, she was held at an undisclosed facility until her case was processed, after which she was moved to Urmia Central Prison, where she remains in temporary detention without trial.
The source provided further details regarding the nature of her arrest: Security forces originally raided her family home without a judicial warrant to arbitrarily detain her. Because she was not home at the time, they instead took one of her relatives into custody. Security personnel then informed the family that the detained relative would only be released if Kaziveh surrendered herself. Consequently, Kaziveh presented herself to the Intelligence Department and was immediately detained without a warrant.
According to the source, security forces have accused her of filming previous protests in Mahabad. Following interrogations at an unknown site, her case file was processed and she was transferred to the central facility in Urmia. Throughout her ongoing detention, Kaziveh Parviznia has been systematically denied access to legal counsel as well as family visitation rights.
