Bukan; Five months of arbitrary detention and uncertainty of Ibrahim Mardani in Bukan Prison
May 5, 2026; despite the passage of five months since the arbitrary detention of Ibrahim Mardani, a Kurdish citizen from the city of Bukan, he remains in a state of uncertainty in the prison of this city.
According to an informed source speaking to Kurdpa, during his detention, this Kurdish citizen has been deprived of access to a lawyer of his choice and was subjected to torture in the Intelligence detention center to obtain forced confessions.
This informed source added: The Intelligence Department of the city of Bukan has prevented the temporary release of Mr. Mardani on bail.
On the evening of Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Ibrahim Mardani was arrested by the security forces of the Intelligence Department without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to Bukan Prison after the completion of interrogation phases.
To date, no precise information has been obtained regarding the reasons for the arrest and the charges brought against this Kurdish citizen.

On May 3, 2025, Kurdpa reported: Ibrahim Mardani was arrested by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location following the presence of guests wearing "Khaki Kurdish clothing" at his son's wedding ceremony.
Additionally, on July 8, 2019, Ibrahim Mardani was arrested following a raid by security forces on his home without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to an unknown location. Subsequently, on July 27, 2019, he was transferred to Bukan Prison after the completion of interrogations.
