Mashhad؛ Street execution of 3 protesters of December 2025/January 2026 Ebrahim Dolatabadi-Nejad, Mehdi Rasouli, Mohammadreza Miri

19:18 - 4 May 2026

May 3, 2026; Ebrahim Dolatabadi-Nejad, Mehdi Rasouli, and Mohammadreza Miri, among the protesters arrested during the protests of December 2025/January 2026, were executed in "Tabarsi" Street in the city of Mashhad. The media of the Islamic Republic of Iran reported the execution of these protesters on charges of being "elements of Mossad" and "operational actions" during the protests of December 2025/January 2026, and the film of the forced confessions of Mehdi Rasouli and Mohammadreza Miri has also been published.

Mehdi Rasouli and Mohammadreza Miri have been accused of having a direct role in "martyring" a security officer on January 8, 2026. It has also been claimed that they participated in the destruction of public property, including shops, a financial institution, and a bus station, and the use of weapons such as knives, handmade swords, and Molotov cocktails.

In a separate case, Ebrahim Dolatabadi-Nejad has been accused of encouraging people in cyberspace to attend protests as one of the "main leaders" of the protests in the Tabarsi area of the city of Mashhad and leading a group of protesters toward government buildings, including the Governorate and the IRIB. It has also been claimed that his actions led to clashes, the killing of security forces, and the destruction of public property, including a Basij base and a bank.

Regarding the judicial process of these three arrested protesters, it is unclear what type of lawyer (chosen or court-appointed) they had access to, and how the duration of the court sessions, their defenses, and those of their lawyers were. The hasty process of issuing and carrying out the sentence within a few months, without mentioning the exact date of arrest, is evaluated as a sign of an unfair trial process. Additionally, the status of their bodies is unknown, raising the question of whether they have faced the phenomenon of enforced disappearance or not. This is while political detainees are often kept in solitary confinement without access to a lawyer during the period of detention and interrogation.

With the execution of Ebrahim Dolatabadi-Nejad, Mehdi Rasouli, and Mohammadreza Miri, the number of protesters executed in connection with the nationwide protests of December 2025/January 2026 has reached 13 people within 47 days. Prior to them, Sasan Azadvar, Erfan Kiani, Amirali Mirjafari, Saleh Mohammadi, Saeid Davoodi, Mehdi Ghasemi, Amirhossein Hatami, Mohammad Amin Biglari, Shahin Vahedparast, and Ali Fahim had been executed.

In this regard, Kurdpa considers the execution of the December/January protesters a short time after these protests to be a clear sign of an unfair and hasty trial carried out by relying on forced confessions and in the absence of primary legal guarantees, including access to a lawyer. Kurdpa also evaluates the manner of reporting and broadcasting confessions as being in line with the propaganda goals of the government and the creation of intimidation in society, viewing this approach as a tool for suppressing protests and exerting social pressure.
