Secret execution of two political prisoners in an unknown location on charges of Moharebeh and espionage Mohammad Masoum Shahi and Hamed Validi
On the morning of Monday, April 20, 2026, two political prisoners sentenced to death named "Mohammad Masoum Shahi" and "Hamed Validi" were secretly executed by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran in an unknown location on charges of "Moharebeh" (enmity against God) and "cooperation with Israel," without informing their families or lawyers.
Mizan, the news agency of the Judiciary, announced these executions and wrote: "Mohammad Masoum Shahi and Hamed Validi were executed on charges of connection with an espionage network linked to Mossad after completing judicial stages and the upholding of the sentence by the Supreme Court. The report claimed these individuals established contact with Mossad officers through cyberspace and travel to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, received training in sabotage operations, and carried out actions such as sending information and conducting operations against certain locations. It was also stated that they were arrested with explosive equipment prior to executing a new mission in Tehran."
Mizan claimed that the charges against these two individuals included "Moharebeh," "cooperation with hostile groups and the Zionist regime," "assembly and collusion against national security," "membership in a criminal terrorist group with the aim of disrupting national security," and "propaganda activity against the state."
These secret executions took place while Mizan, in its report, made no reference to the location of execution, the process and timing of the trial, or the date of arrest, and these political prisoners were executed without informing the families or providing the possibility of a final meeting.
On the other hand, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) announced that these two political prisoners were their members and had been arrested in May 2025, but were accused of spying for Israel in October 2025 in connection with the 12-day war.
The PMOI states: "Hamed Validi, a 45-year-old civil engineer, and Nima Shahi, a 38-year-old technical worker, were arrested in Tehran on May 13, 2025, along with their relatives and were subjected to interrogation and torture."
The organization says that they had sent their names and details to human rights organizations and the United Nations.
