Tehran; Reza Rizvandi, 27-year-old Kurdish engineer; It is still not clear to his family whether he was killed in the street or in the detention center
January 26, 2026; “Reza Rizvandi,” a 27-year-old Kurdish youth from Kermanshah, is the identity of another of the victims during the popular protests in Tehran. Despite the passage of time, it has not yet been determined for his family whether he was killed in the street by direct gunfire or murdered in a detention center. What is certain is that he was targeted by a direct shot to the back of the head and lost his life.
An informed source, while confirming this news to Kurdpa, stated: After days of searching, the family identified the body of Reza Rizvandi on January 17, 2026, and transferred it by ambulance to Kermanshah, where he was buried.
A close relative of the family says: “We do not know if he was killed during the protests of January 9 or if he lost his life after being arrested on January 17. They provide us with no accurate information, and we do not think that under the shadow of this repression, following this massacre, we will ever find out how he was killed. Everyone says something, but we know he was targeted by a direct shot to the back of the head and killed.”
Relatives of this family say regarding the lack of information on their child's fate: Reza left home on the evening of January 9, and in his last contact with one of his friends, he said they were being chased and he was fleeing. Following that, due to the lack of information on his fate, the family visited prosecutor's offices and prisons, but no institution was responsive. Finally, on January 17, 2026, his body was identified in Behesht-e Zahra.
Reza Rizvandi was originally from Kermanshah and was a computer engineer.
