Oshnavieh; Majid Daryayi Transferred to Prison to Serve Sentence
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, Majid (Najmeddin) Daryayi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Oshnavieh, was transferred to the prison of this county to serve his sentence.
According to an informed source to Kurdpa, this political prisoner had received a summons on January 4, 2026, from the First Branch of the Execution of Criminal Sentences of the Public and Revolutionary Court of Oshnavieh to serve his prison term.
In June 2025, this Kurdish citizen was sentenced to one year of imprisonment by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court Two of Oshnavieh on the charge of “propaganda activities in favor of groups opposed to the state.”
On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, Majid Daryayi was summoned to the First Branch of the Interrogator’s Office of the Public and Revolutionary Court of Oshnavieh, where he defended himself against the charge of “propaganda activities in favor of groups opposed to the state.”
After being formally charged, Mr. Daryayi was temporarily released on bail pending his court sessions.
On the evening of January 24, 2018, Majid Daryayi was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant during a raid on his home, based on the charge of “the political activities of one of his sons named Akam Daryayi.” He had previously been threatened with arrest by security forces several times.
Ultimately, on January 29, 2019, Majid Daryayi and five other citizens from Oshnavieh were sentenced to a total of 16 years and six months in prison, with Mr. Daryayi being sentenced to two years in prison on the charge of “cooperation with one of the Kurdish parties.”
Additionally, “Fattah Alikord” from the village of “Narziweh” was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, “Younes Sharifi” from Oshnavieh to three years and six months in prison, “Hamed Zarifeh” from the village of “Khoresht” to three years in prison, “Mohammad Amin Fazli” from the village of “Bimzorati” to two years in prison, and “Mohammad Mahmoudtash” from the village of “Khoresht” to two years and six months in prison.
In a related context, on June 20, 2021, one of Majid Daryayi’s sons, named “Najib Daryayi,” was arrested by security forces at his workplace without a judicial warrant. He had also been arrested by security forces two weeks prior to that arrest and was released after the completion of the interrogation period.
