Islamabad-e Gharb; Masoud Sahami, Kurdish Youth from Shabad, Identity of Another of the January 8 Victims Killed by Live Ammunition

January 24, 2026; “Masoud Sahami,” a Kurdish youth from Islamabad-e Gharb (Shabad) in Kermanshah province, is the identity of another of the victims of the popular protests in this city. On the evening of January 8, 2026, during the popular protests in Islamabad-e Gharb, he was targeted by direct fire of live ammunition from the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic and lost his life.

Masoud Sahami was the head of his household and was employed as an apprentice at an oil change shop.

It has not yet been determined for Kurdpa whether the family was forced to pay an amount or sign a written commitment for the delivery of this victim's body; however, informed sources had previously told Kurdpa that government institutions have received amounts between 700 million Tomans and one billion Tomans from families for the delivery of the bodies of those killed in Kermanshah, and families have been forced to pay these amounts.

According to informed sources, regarding the victims from Islamabad-e Gharb, in most cases, security agencies did not allow the families to bury the bodies in the city's cemetery, and they were forced to transfer the bodies of their loved ones to surrounding villages of this county for burial.

Furthermore, security agencies have pressured the families of a number of those killed to identify Kurdish opposition parties as the source of the gunfire. Additionally, since the beginning of the protests, especially on January 8 and 9, military and security forces have attempted to arrest the wounded protesters by raiding the Islamabad-e Gharb hospital. Following these actions, many families secretly removed the wounded or even the bodies of the deceased from the hospital to prevent their transfer to security agencies.
