Sanandaj; Detention and Lack of Information on the Fate of Shahrzad Rezaei, Atieh Golchini, and Marziyeh Moradveisi
January 18, 2026; Ten days after the arbitrary detention of three civil and women's rights activists from Sanandaj named “Shahrzad Rezaei,” “Atieh Golchini,” and “Marziyeh Moradveisi,” no information is available regarding their fate or place of detention.
According to an informed source to Kurdpa, “Atieh Golchini” and “Marziyeh Moradveisi” have been detained for more than 10 days (likely January 7 or 8, 2026) and “Shahrzad Rezaei” was detained two days after them, following raids by security forces on their homes without the presentation of a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location; no information remains available regarding their fate or place of detention.
It should be noted that “Marziyeh Moradveisi,” a women's rights activist and dismissed teacher, has a history of multiple detentions and convictions. Furthermore, “Atieh Golchini” is one of the seeking-justice mothers and a women's rights activist. “Shahrzad Rezaei” is also a civil and women's rights activist. These three female activists were also detained during the “Jin Jiyan Azadî” revolutionary uprising.
The Detention and Conviction History of Marziyeh Moradveisi, Civil and Women's Rights Activist:
April 24, 2021: Marziyeh Moradveisi was detained by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location.
November 6, 2021: She was tried in Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge “Saidi,” and accused of “acting against national security.”
May 2022: She was sentenced to two years of executable imprisonment.
August 23, 2022: She was sentenced by Branch 4 of the Kurdistan Province Court of Appeals to five months of executable imprisonment and a four-year suspended prison sentence for a period of four years.
August 31, 2022: This women's rights activist was detained after being summoned to the Enforcement of Judgments of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court and transferred to the Correction and Rehabilitation Center of this city to serve her prison sentence.
