Mamousta Loqman Amini sentenced to three years and one month in prison and permanent defrocking

Mamousta Loqman Amini, the Friday prayer leader of Chehar Yaran Nabi Grand Mosque in Sanandaj, has been sentenced to three years and one month of discretionary imprisonment, as well as permanent removal from the clergy, on charges of “insulting religious sanctities.” The sentence was issued by the Special Clerical Court in Tehran.

According to a knowledgeable source, this ruling was formally communicated to the Kurdish cleric in recent days.

On Monday, June 3, 2025, Mamousta Amini was released from Hamedan Prison after posting bail.

Previously, on Monday, April 21, 2025, he had been arrested after appearing before the Special Clerical Court in Hamedan on similar charges of "insulting religious sanctities" and was transferred to Hamedan Prison under a pre-trial detention order.

Back in June 2023, Mamousta Loqman Amini had been sentenced to:

_ 11 years of discretionary imprisonment
_ Two years of exile to Ardabil
_ Permanent removal from the clergy
_ Ban from delivering Friday sermons

These charges stemmed from:
_ Allegedly promoting opposition Kurdish parties
_ Possession of a handgun
_ Inciting unrest and chaos
_ Expressing support for the people and protests during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising

Earlier still, on Monday, January 30, 2023, he had been arrested by security forces on the Marivan road for supporting the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement without a judicial warrant, and was temporarily released on bail on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, pending trial.
