On Thursday, August 28, 2025, four members of the Sanandaj Teachers’ Trade Association—Loqman Afzali, Salah Haji Mirzaei, Majid Karimi, and Nasrin Karimi—were summoned and interrogated by FARAJA intelligence agents (Iran's national police intelligence division) following a call by the People’s Committee in Support of Sanandaj Teachers.

These summonses came just one day before a mass protest hike on Friday, August 29, 2025, during which thousands of citizens and civil activists in Sanandaj marched from Koodak Park to Gowiz Kavir, expressing solidarity with dismissed teachers.

The protest hike featured banners and slogans such as:

_ “Imprisoned teachers must be freed”
_ “We support free-thinking teachers”
Various civil groups also declared solidarity, protesting the unjust court rulings against teachers.

Earlier, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the People’s Committee in Support of Dismissed Teachers of Kurdistan issued a statement condemning the harsh and unfair sentences issued against several prominent and respected Kurdish teachers, and announced a series of actions in protest. The first action was the August 29 protest hike opposing the verdicts issued against the teachers.
