On August 27, 2025, Rafiq Mostafaei, a 42-year-old Kurdish citizen from Marivan, was temporarily released on heavy bail after being held in arbitrary detention for 25 days.

According to a source who spoke with Kurdpa, on Monday, August 25, 2025, Rafiq Mostafaei was released from Marivan Prison after 25 days of detention, following the posting of heavy bail. A few days prior to his release, he had been transferred from a security detention center run by the Intelligence Department in Marivan to the county prison, where bail procedures were carried out for his temporary release.

Kurdpa had earlier reported that on Friday, August 1, 2025, intelligence agents from the Marivan office of the Ministry of Intelligence raided Rafiq Mostafaei’s workplace—a brick factory in Marivan—without presenting a court order, and arrested him. Mr. Mostafaei, originally from the village of Musk and a resident of Marivan, was working at the time of arrest and was taken to an undisclosed location.

It is worth noting that during his detention and interrogation at one of the Intelligence Ministry’s security facilities in Marivan, Mr. Mostafaei was denied access to legal counsel and contact with his family. Meanwhile, his family’s repeated efforts to obtain information about his condition were unsuccessful, as security agencies refused to provide any explanation.

The reason for his arrest remains unknown.
