February 9, 2026; In the continuation of the wave of arbitrary and mass arrests of Kurdish citizens in “Ilam,” two more citizens identified as “Mohammad Mahdi Baralak” and “Ali Namizad” were arrested and transferred to an unknown location during the past few days.
“Mohammad Mahdi Baralak,” a 19-year-old Kurdish youth from “Lumar” in “Sirvan” county, “Ilam” province, was arrested by security forces on February 8, 2026, without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to an unknown location.
“Ali Namizad,” a Kurdish citizen from “Ilam,” was arrested on the morning of February 6, 2026, during a raid by security forces on his home, without the presentation of a judicial warrant. He was transferred to an unknown location, and after four days of arbitrary detention, there is no information regarding his fate or place of detention. He is a shopkeeper and the father of two young children.
It should be noted that these Kurdish citizens have been deprived of the right to access a lawyer, as well as contact and visitation with their families during their detention, a situation that has caused serious concern for their families.
