Bojnord Prison; 26 Days of Arbitrary Detention and Uncertainty for Mahdi Borzouei, Wrestler and National Champion
February 4, 2026; Following 26 days since the arbitrary detention of “Mahdi Borzouei,” a Kurdish Kurmanj youth from “Bojnord,” wrestler, and national champion, he remains in a state of uncertainty. This Kurdish citizen was transferred to “Bojnord Prison” in recent days but continues to be deprived of the right to access a lawyer and visit with his family.
An informed source, while confirming this news to “Kurdpa,” stated: “Mahdi Borzouei” was arrested on January 10, 2026, following a raid by security forces on his personal residence without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to an unknown location. The source added that after the end of the detention and interrogation period, he was transferred to “Bojnord Prison” in recent days and is being held in a state of uncertainty.
It is worth noting that during his 26 days of arbitrary detention, “Mahdi Borzouei” has been completely deprived of the right to access a lawyer and visit with his family.
