Sanandaj; Arbitrary Detention of Zanyar Kanaani, 15-Year-Old Adolescent, and Transfer to an Unknown Location

February 19, 2026; In the continuation of the wave of arbitrary and mass detentions of Kurdish citizens in the cities of Kurdistan, "Zanyar Kanaani", a 15-year-old adolescent from "Sanandaj", was arbitrarily detained by security forces and transferred to an unknown location.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: On the morning of February 17, 2026, "Zanyar Kanaani" was detained without a judicial warrant during a raid on his home in the "Baharan" neighborhood by security forces and has been transferred to an unknown location.

Until the publication of this report, there is no information available regarding the reasons for the detention of this 15-year-old, and security forces have provided no explanation in this regard. Furthermore, this Kurdish adolescent has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer and contact or visitation with his family.
