Esfarayen Prison; 37 Days of Detention and Uncertainty Regarding the Fate of "Mohammad Azari"/ His life and fate are at risk

February 19, 2026; After 37 days since the arbitrary detention of "Mohammad Azari", a young Kurdish citizen from "Esfarayen" in "North Khorasan", his arbitrary detention continues, and he is being held in a state of legal uncertainty at "Esfarayen Prison".

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Mohammad Azari" was detained on January 14, 2026, without a judicial warrant during a raid on his home by security forces. He was transferred to an unknown location and, after two weeks of interrogation in an undisclosed security detention center, was moved to "Esfarayen Prison", where he has remained in limbo ever since.

Until the publication of this report, this Kurdish citizen has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer.

"Mohammad Azari" (also referred to as Mohammad Zare in some records) is a Kurmanji Kurdish youth from "Esfarayen".
