Shirvan Prison; Danial Niazi, 18-Year-Old Youth, 38 Days of Arbitrary Detention Facing Heavy Charge of "Moharebeh" Following Torture and Forced Confessions

February 18, 2026; "Danial Niazi", an 18-year-old youth from "Shirvan" in "North Khorasan" who has been under arbitrary detention for 38 days, is facing the heavy charge of "Moharebeh" (enmity against God) and other charges including "participation in attempted premeditated murder, participation in intentional assault and battery, membership in a gathering of more than three people against internal national security, disruption of public order, and propaganda activity against the holy system of the Islamic Republic." These charges were issued through an unjust process involving torture and forced confessions by "Branch Two of the Interrogations Office of the Public and Revolutionary Court of Shirvan", and his life and fate are in severe danger.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Danial Niazi" was violently detained in the middle of the night on January 12, 2026, during a raid on his home by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. Subsequently, within the first 24 hours, forced confessions were extracted from him through severe physical torture, leading to the issuance of the aforementioned heavy charges; all while he was deprived of any access to a lawyer or contact and visitation with his family.

According to a copy of his court document obtained by Kurdpa, the charges against him were issued on January 13, 2026. In the absence of "Danial Niazi's" right to a lawyer during interrogations and forced confessions under torture, the court relied solely on the case files built by security agencies and confirmed the issuance of these charges while rejecting the 18-year-old's protest.

After the completion of interrogations and case-building by security agencies, he was transferred to Shirvan Prison. He currently remains without access to a lawyer and is only permitted limited contact or visits with his family.

The informed source told Kurdpa regarding his situation: "He is under heavy charges and the potential for a 'Death Sentence', and he has no one to follow up on his case, as he has been without a guardian since childhood due to his parents' separation."

Danial Niazi, 18 years old, is a Kurmanji Kurd from "Shirvan" in the province of "North Khorasan".
