Evin Prison: Labor Activist Morteza Saeedi Granted One-Week Leave

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Morteza Saeedi, a labor activist from Kamyaran County, was granted a one-week furlough from Evin Prison.

Previously, on Saturday, January 27, 2025, Mr. Saeedi was granted temporary leave and returned to Evin Prison on February 9, 2025, after the end of his furlough.

On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the labor activist was imprisoned to begin serving his sentence at Evin.

Mr. Saeedi was sentenced to two years in prison by Branch 2 of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Bahram Panahi, on charges of “forming a group with the intention of disturbing national security.” The sentence took into account his prior time spent in detention and was officially issued on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

According to Saeedi, the Tehran Provincial Appeals Court upheld the ruling against him.

Earlier, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, a hearing on the charges against Morteza Saeedi was held in Branch 2 of the Shahriar Revolutionary Court with his lawyer present.

On Monday, May 9, 2022, Mr. Saeedi was temporarily released from Evin Prison on bail pending trial.

Morteza Saeedi had originally been arrested on Friday, April 15, 2022, along with several other labor activists by security forces.
