Urmia Prison: Nosrat Khaledi, a prisoner sentenced to death, lost his life after three days of heart pain and delayed transfer to the hospital

August 7, 2026; Over the past two weeks, a Kurdish prisoner from the city of Urmia named "Nosrat Khaledi", who was incarcerated in the Central Prison of Urmia on "drug-related" charges and under a death sentence, lost his life due to heart disease and the neglect of Urmia prison officials in transferring him to the hospital, as well as his delayed transfer.

An informed source confirmed this news to Kurdpa, stating: "Nosrat Khaledi", a Kurdish prisoner sentenced to "death" who was incarcerated in Urmia prison on "drug-related" charges, suffered from severe heart pain for three days. Despite repeated requests, he was not transferred to the hospital. On the third day, corresponding to July 28, 2026, following a severe deterioration of his heart pain, he was transferred to "Seyed al-Shohada" Hospital in the city of Urmia; and that only occurred with dozens of pleas from his family, connections and recommendations within the prison system, and the efforts of other prisoners. However, within the first 10 minutes of his arrival at the hospital, while he managed to speak a few words with his relatives, he lost his life.

According to this source, Mr. Khaledi previously had no history of heart conditions and only suffered from kidney illness. However, over the past year since the death sentence was issued against him, he was under severe pressure and constant stress. Although he had hired a lawyer to appeal the death sentence, he had no hope that the verdict would be overturned, and the continuation of these pressures led to his cardiac arrest.

According to the source, "Nosrat Khaledi", son of Hossein, a resident of the village of "Sanji" in the district of the city of Urmia, was married and the father of 5 daughters, one of whom has a disability, is paralyzed, and is unable to move at all.
