Saqqez; Cultural Identity of Saqqez Narrated by 44 Kurdish Poets; Book "Saqqez from the Perspective of Poets" Unveiled
August 8, 2026 – The book "سەقز له ڕوانگەی شاعیراندا" (Saqqez from the Perspective of Poets), the latest research and compiled work by artist "Mostafa Asour," was unveiled in the presence of a large gathering of poets, writers, researchers, cultural activists, and literature enthusiasts at the Khaneh Omid Hall in Saqqez; a work that, by compiling the perspectives of 44 Kurdish poets about Saqqez, has recorded an enduring portrait of the history, culture, geography, and identity of this city within a comprehensive research study.
The unveiling ceremony of the book "Saqqez from the Perspective of Poets" was held on Friday, August 7, 2026, with an impressive turnout of citizens and figures from the realm of culture and literature. This book is the result of years of research and compilation by Mostafa Asour, a cultural, artistic, and social activist, and can be considered one of the prominent works in the field of Saqqez studies and Kurdish research literature.
Published in 457 pages by "Hezhan" Publishing House, the work features a 92-page research introduction written by Dr. Ahmad Ahmadian, university professor and prominent researcher, as well as a short piece on the necessity of this work written by Dr. Shahbaz Mohseni.
According to the author, in addition to introducing and analyzing the poems of 44 Kurdish poets about Saqqez, the book presents an important portion of the historical, cultural, and natural capacities of this county; ranging from inscriptions, tribes, vegetation cover, neighborhoods, mills, gardens, and springs to towns, villages, mosques, shrines, and other manifestations of the historical and cultural identity of this land.
At this ceremony, Dr. Shahbaz Mohseni, university professor and author, reviewed the enduring works of scholars and literary figures of Kurdistan, describing the book as a valuable work for understanding the cultural heritage of Saqqez and a reliable source in the field of Saqqez studies.
Subsequently, Dr. Ahmad Ahmadian, university professor and researcher in literature and culture, pointed to the historical position of Saqqez, describing the city as a symbol of the ancient culture and civilization of Kurdistan while also serving as a birthplace for new ideas and transformative cultural and social initiatives.
He introduced several prominent writers, translators, and researchers from Saqqez, emphasizing the necessity of introducing their works and ideas to the younger generation and utilizing this capacity to enhance the cultural capital of society.
Next, Pari Karami, the book's editor, outlined the compilation and editing process of the work, evaluating it as an exquisite and enduring piece of research in Kurdish culture and literature.
