August 8, 2026 – Five days after the arrest of "Bahman Modirzadeh," a Kurdish citizen from Qotur (Kotol) and a member of the city's council, who posted a story on his Instagram page in opposition to executions, no information is available regarding his fate.
An informed source, confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Bahman Modirzadeh," a 39-year-old citizen from Qotur and a member of the city council, was arrested on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 (Mordad 13, 1405), by IRGC Intelligence security forces of Khoy County without presenting a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. The source stated that his arrest was directly connected to posting an Instagram story expressing opposition to the death penalty.
Nevertheless, as of the time of publication of this report, security forces have provided no specific explanation regarding his arrest, and throughout this period of arbitrary detention, he has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer, family visits, and phone calls.
