Mahabad; Peyman Mohammadi Moradi Released on Bail After One Week of Arbitrary Detention

July 29, 2026 – "Peyman Mohammadi Moradi," a Kurdish youth from Mahabad, was temporarily released yesterday after one week of arbitrary detention upon posting a bail of 500 million Tomans.

An informed source, confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Peyman Mohammadi Moradi" was temporarily released on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after one week of arbitrary detention, upon posting a bail of 500 million Tomans.

Kurdpa had previously reported that on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, "Peyman Mohammadi Moradi," who in preceding days had been summoned by security forces to the Intelligence Department and whose mobile phone had been confiscated without presenting a judicial warrant or legal authorization, was summoned once again to the Intelligence Department under the pretense of retrieving his mobile phone. However, upon appearing, he was arrested without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location.

According to this source, a few days prior to his arrest, security forces, while summoning this Kurdish citizen, confiscated his mobile phone without presenting any judicial warrant or legal authorization, and subsequently summoned him back to the Intelligence Department under the pretext of receiving it.

As of the time of publication of this report, the reasons for the arrest of this Kurdish citizen remain unknown, and security forces have provided no explanation in this regard. Furthermore, throughout the one week of arbitrary detention, Peyman Mohammadi Moradi was deprived of the right to family visits and had no access to a lawyer.
