Bojnurd Central Prison; Ali Gheshlaghi, 19-Year-Old Kurmanji Kurd Youth and January Detainee, Serving 2 Years and 6 Months Sentence

July 29, 2026؛ "Ali Gheshlaghi," a 19-year-old Kurmanji Kurd youth and one of the January 2026 detainees, who was previously sentenced to imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court of Bojnurd County, was transferred to Bojnurd Central Prison in late June 2026 to serve his sentence and is currently serving 2 years and 6 months of discretionary imprisonment.

An informed source, confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Ali Gheshlaghi," a 19-year-old Kurmanji Kurd youth from the city of Bojnurd in North Khorasan Province who was arrested during the January 2026 arrests, was sentenced on June 13, 2026, by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Bojnurd County, presided over by Judge "Sadegh Rafiei," on charges of "assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security" and "propaganda against the system" initially to 4 years of imprisonment, of which 2 years and 6 months were suspended. Following submission to the verdict, this sentence was reduced to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment, one year of which is suspended; as a result, 2 years and 6 months of discretionary imprisonment are enforceable.

"Ali Gheshlaghi" was arrested on January 25, 2026, without a judicial warrant by security forces and transferred to an unknown location. After one month of arbitrary detention, he was temporarily released on bail in early March 2026.

During the one month of arbitrary detention, this Kurdish youth was deprived of the right to access a lawyer and to have visits with his family.
