Ashkhaneh; Alireza Seyyedi, Kurmanji Kurd Youth and January Detainee, Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

July 29, 2026 – "Seyyed Alireza Seyyedi," a 26-year-old Kurmanji Kurd youth and one of the detainees of the January 2026 protests, was sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Bojnurd County to 3 years of discretionary imprisonment.

An informed source, confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Seyyed Alireza Seyyedi," a 26-year-old Kurmanji Kurd youth from the city of Ashkhaneh in North Khorasan Province, who was arrested during the January 2026 arrests, was recently sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Bojnurd County on charges of "assembly and collusion to commit crimes against internal and external security" to 3 years of discretionary imprisonment. The hearing for this case took place on July 13, 2026.

According to this source, he was also sentenced to flogging. Kurdpa is currently pursuing the details of this section of the verdict, including the number of lashes and the related charges.

"Seyyed Alireza Seyyedi" was arrested on January 10, 2026, without a judicial warrant by security forces and transferred to an unknown location. After 10 days of arbitrary detention, he was temporarily released on bail.

During the detention period, this Kurdish youth was deprived of the right to access a lawyer and to have visits with his family; furthermore, due to inability to afford legal representation fees, he was deprived of having a lawyer during the case proceedings as well.
