Kamyaran; Arbitrary Detention of Kazhal Rahmani and Danial Rahmani by Security Forces
On Saturday morning, June 6, 2026, Kazhal Rahmani and Danial Rahmani, two citizens from Kamyaran, were arbitrarily detained by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and were transferred to an unknown location.
According to an informed source, security forces raided the residences of Kazhal Rahmani and Danial Rahmani in the city of Kamyaran simultaneously without presenting a judicial warrant, and after breaking the doors of the houses, arrested this Kurdish sister and brother.
Jamal Rahmani, a member of the Leadership Council of the Democratic and Free Society of East Kurdistan (KODAR) and the brother of Kazhal and Danial Rahmani, was killed by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in 2018 (1397). The family has repeatedly approached security institutions in the cities of Kamyaran and Sanandaj to retrieve his body or to find out his burial location, but no response has been given to them so far. Additionally, their other brother, Rebin Rahmani, is a former political prisoner and a member of the board of directors of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network.
Over the past years, Kazhal Rahmani has been summoned and interrogated multiple times by the Ministry of Intelligence in Kamyaran and Sanandaj. She was employed as a nurse at Sina Hospital in Kamyaran and was dismissed from her workplace in the autumn of 2019 (1398) following pressure from the Ministry of Intelligence.
Danial Rahmani, a computer engineering student at the Islamic Azad University of Sanandaj, has also been summoned and interrogated several times in recent years by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Kamyaran.
