Bokan: Civil Activist Peshwa Chamani Released After Two Days of Detention, Severe Beatings, and Threats

July 26, 2026 – "Peshwa Chamani," a Kurdish citizen and civil activist from Bokan who was subjected to two days of arbitrary detention by security forces from the Ministry of Intelligence in Bokan, has been released after enduring severe beatings and intense threats under the charge of "propaganda against the state."

An informed source confirmed the news to Kurdpa, stating: On the morning of Saturday, July 25, 2026, "Peshwa Chamani," a civil activist from the village of "Ebrahimabad" in Bokan, was summoned and arrested by Intelligence Department forces without being presented with a judicial warrant or order. Following two days of detention, severe beatings, and extensive threats by security personnel, he was released on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

According to the source, throughout his two days in custody, the Kurdish citizen was denied the right to phone calls, family visits, and access to legal counsel. Furthermore, it remains unclear whether security forces have fabricated formal security charges against him, despite having summoned, detained, and beaten him without a judicial warrant.
