Saqqez; Two Days of Arbitrary Detention and No News on the Fate of Ashkan Abkho
June 17, 2026; following two days since the arbitrary detention of "Ashkan Abkho," a 27-year-old Kurdish youth from the city of Saqqez, there remains no information whatsoever regarding his fate and place of detention.
An informed source, while confirming this news to Kurdpa, stated: "Ashkan Abkho" was arrested on Monday, June 15, 2026, when security forces raided his barber shop without presenting a judicial warrant, and he was transferred to an unknown location. The security forces had told his family and associates that they were only taking him with them for four hours and that he would be released afterward; however, after two days, there is still no information about his fate.
According to this source, during this period, Ashkan Abkho has been deprived of the right to contact and meet with his family, as well as access to a lawyer. Upon arrest, the security forces also confiscated his mobile phone without providing any legal document or order.
Until the publication of this news, the reasons for the detention of this Kurdish youth remain unknown, and security agencies have provided no explanation in this regard.
