Piranshahr; Release of Saadi Badpa after one month on a 4 billion bail with his car and mobile phone confiscated

May 5, 2026; "Saadi Badpa," a 23-year-old Kurdish youth from the city of Piranshahr, was released on a heavy bail of 4 billion after more than one month of arbitrary detention; while his car and mobile phone remain in the hands of security forces and have been confiscated.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Saadi Badpa" was arrested on April 4, 2026, without the presentation of a judicial warrant and in a violent manner, following a raid by security forces on his home, and was transferred to one of the security detention centers of the Intelligence Department of the city of Urmia. After 20 days of detention and interrogation in solitary confinement and being subjected to severe physical torture, he was transferred to Urmia Prison and finally released temporarily after one month upon posting a heavy bail of 4 billion.

It should be noted that at the time of arrest, security forces illegally confiscated his mobile phone and car without presenting a judicial warrant and, to date, despite his temporary release, they have not returned these personal belongings to him.

Until the moment of publication of this news, the reasons for the arrest of this Kurdish youth remain unclear and security forces have provided no explanation in this regard. Furthermore, during his month of arbitrary detention, he was deprived of the right to meetings and access to a lawyer.
