Sarableh/Ilam; 12 days of lack of news and torture of Arshia Gheysarbeigi / Accusation building with "Moharebeh and Efsad-fel-Arz" based on forced confessions
May 16, 2026; "Arshia Gheysarbeigi," a young Kurdish man from city of "Sarableh" in the vicinity of Ilam Province who has been violently arrested with severe assault and battery by security forces for 12 days and is being held in an unknown location, faces heavy charges of "Moharebeh and Efsad-fel-Arz" based on forced confessions obtained under torture; charges that have increased the risk of issuing heavy sentences, including execution, for him. This is while he is still deprived of the right to access a lawyer and visit his family and, according to received reports, is being held in a security detention center under torture to complete interrogations.
An informed source, while confirming this news to Kurdpa, said: "Arshia Gheysarbeigi" was arrested violently on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, by a raid of security forces on his home, without the presentation of a judicial warrant; in such a way that the severity of the assault and battery led to the fracture of his jaw, nose, and teeth.
According to this source, security forces were simultaneously trying to arrest his brother "Arashk Gheysarbeigi" as well, but did not succeed in arresting him.
Following this violent arrest, security forces transferred Arshia Gheysarbeigi to one of the security detention centers. Now, following the passage of 12 days from the time of arrest, he is still deprived of the right to any access to a lawyer and visiting his family, and his interrogation continues in a solitary cell, accompanied by severe physical torture and without medical care regarding the injuries resulting from the arrest.
One day after the arrest of Arshia Gheysarbeigi, on May 6, 2026, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of Chardavol County in Ilam Province, with the signature of "Karim Omidi," the Court Judge and Alternate Investigator, issued his temporary detention order. Based on this order, relying on "confessions and admission," he has been accused of "Moharebeh and Efsad-fel-Arz" charges and his temporary detention has been extended for another two months.
In the text of this detention order, the details of the charges are stated as "Moharebeh and Efsad-fel-Arz dائر بر: Moharebeh and Efsad-fel-Arz and power projection with weapons and buying, selling, maintaining, transporting weapons, military ammunition and ... illegally and unauthorized shooting" and it has been claimed that these charges have been brought "with attention to existing reasons, indications, and signs including: according to the report of the officers and the discovery and arrest statement and confessions and admissions corresponding to reality taken in complete health and safety."
This is while reliable sources of Kurdpa say that Arshia Gheysarbeigi was tortured severely and in a "brutal" manner after his arrest and the confessions obtained from him were forced, and these charges have also been set up based on these very forced confessions.
Also, while it is emphasized in the text of the temporary detention order that the "confessions and admissions were taken in complete health and safety," Arshia Gheysarbeigi faced a fractured nose, jaw, and teeth both at the time of the violent arrest and was under severe physical torture during the detention and interrogation period; a matter that confronts the claim of "health and safety" at the time of taking confessions with a serious contradiction.
Also, while in this two-month detention order, relying on Article 225 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the "explanation and notification" of the clauses of the order to the accused is mentioned and it states in its text that Arshia Gheysarbeigi has the right to object to the detention order within 10 days and this paper has also been registered with his signature, the serious question is raised that how a person who is held in a solitary cell, under torture, without access to a lawyer, deprived of communication with family, and without medical care can practically use his legal right to object to the detention order?
Kurdpa strongly condemns the violent arrest of Arshia Gheysarbeigi, his torture and the taking of forced confessions from him, his maintenance in a solitary cell, and the deprivation of access to a lawyer and family, and considers it a clear violation of the principles of a fair trial and fundamental human rights.
While it is claimed in the detention order that "confessions were taken in complete health and safety," reports indicate the fracture of his jaw, nose, and teeth and the continuation of his severe physical and psychological torture; a matter that shows a serious contradiction between the claim of judicial institutions and the real situation of Arshia Gheysarbeigi.
Kurdpa expresses serious concern over the risk of issuing heavy sentences, including execution, based on forced confessions and demands the halting of torture, his immediate access to a lawyer and medical care, and the observance of the principles of a fair trial.
