Kurdistan Region of Iraq; Drone attacks by the Islamic Republic on one of the refugee camps of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan
On the night of Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 9:30 PM, one of the political refugee camps of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan named "Jizhnikan," located in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, was once again targeted by a drone attack from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The media of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan announced that this camp is the residence of families and political refugees of this party and, since the beginning of the military conflict between Israel-USA and the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been targeted several times by drone and missile attacks. According to these media outlets, since the beginning of the war, the Islamic Republic has targeted refugee camps, medical centers, and educational centers affiliated with this party using 126 missiles and suicide drones.
Over the past 16 days, at least 10 missile and drone attacks have been recorded against the headquarters and refugee camps of the Kurdish parties opposing the Islamic Republic in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq:
May 10, 2026; one of the headquarters of the Komala Party of Toilers of Kurdistan in the "Balisan" heights was targeted by a missile attack.
May 9, 2026; one of the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in "Balisan" was targeted by a suicide drone attack.
May 7, 2026; one of the headquarters of the Kurdistan Freedom Party in Erbil was targeted by a suicide drone attack.
May 7, 2026; another headquarters of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in "Balisan" was targeted by a drone attack.
May 6, 2026; one of the headquarters of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan in "Balisan" was targeted by a drone attack.
May 6, 2026; the "Zwi Spi" camp, residence of political refugees and families of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in Erbil, was targeted by a drone attack.
May 6, 2026; the "Gardachal" camp, residence of families of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in Erbil, was targeted by a drone attack.
May 5, 2026; the "Surdash" refugee camp, residence of families of the Komala parties in Sulaymaniyah, was targeted by a suicide drone attack.
April 30, 2026; the "Azadi" camp, belonging to political refugees and families of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in Erbil, was targeted by a drone attack.
April 27, 2026; the "Surdash" camp, belonging to families of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan in Sulaymaniyah, was targeted by suicide drone attacks in several stages from noon to night.
According to statistics, from February 28, 2026, to April 27, 2026, more than 811 missile and drone attacks have been recorded by the Islamic Republic of Iran and its affiliated proxy groups against the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. As a result of these attacks, at least 20 people, including 7 Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, one Asayish employee, 9 Peshmerga of Iranian Kurdish parties, 3 civilian citizens, and one French soldier have lost their lives, and at least 123 people have been wounded. According to these statistics, Erbil with 478 cases, Sulaymaniyah and Halabja with 236 cases, Soran with 68 cases, and Duhok with 29 cases have experienced the highest number of attacks.
These attacks continue while women, children, and families of political refugees reside in these camps. With the start of the war and the repetition of drone and missile attacks, hundreds of political refugee families have been forced to leave their places of residence, and extensive damage has been inflicted on homes, medical centers, cultural schools, and spaces related to children.
