Bukan; 67 days of arbitrary detention of Peshwa Aghapour and his maintenance in Urmia security detention centers

May 10, 2026; following the passage of 67 days since the arbitrary detention of "Peshwa Aghapour," a Kurdish citizen from the city of "Bukan" in "Azerbaijan-e Gharbi" Province, he is still being held in an unknown location in "Urmia" and is deprived of the right to access a lawyer and meet with his family.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa; "Peshwa Aghapour," a 22-year-old Kurdish youth from the city of "Bukan" who was arbitrarily and violently arrested on March 4, 2026, was transferred to the Central Prison of "Urmia" after his arrest, and subsequently, on May 6, 2026, was moved to one of the security detention centers in "Urmia." However, four days after this transfer, there is no information regarding his fate or place of maintenance.

According to this report, "Peshwa Aghapour" was arrested on Thursday, March 4, 2026, following a raid by security forces on his family home without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to the Central Prison of "Urmia." During this violent arrest, security forces beat family members, including his father, which resulted in a broken rib for him.

This Kurdish citizen has a history of previous detention; during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" uprising on November 5, 2022, he was arrested after being summoned to the Intelligence Department of the city of "Bukan" and, according to reports, was subjected to physical torture at that time.

Until the publication of this news, no official information regarding the reasons for his recent arrest has been released, and security agencies have provided no explanation in this regard. Furthermore, during his detention, he has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer and meet with his family, having had only one short contact with his family in the initial days.
