Erfan Shakourzadeh was secretly executed by the Islamic Republic on charges of "espionage for Mossad and the CIA"

May 11, 2026; "Erfan Shakourzadeh," a 29-year-old prisoner and a master's student in Aerospace Engineering at the "Iran University of Science and Technology," was secretly executed by the Islamic Republic on charges of "espionage for Mossad and the CIA."

The "Mizan" News Agency, affiliated with the judiciary, published this news without mentioning the location of the execution, writing: "According to the contents of the case, the named individual, as a project and considering the expertise he possessed, was recruited by one of the country's scientific organizations operating in the field of satellites."

Regarding the judicial process of this prisoner, it is unclear what type of lawyer (chosen or court-appointed) he had access to, or how the duration of the court sessions and the defense presented by him and his lawyer were conducted.

On May 7, 2026, the "Iran Human Rights" organization reported that "Erfan Shakourzadeh" had been transferred to "Ghezel Hesar" Prison and was at risk of the execution of his death sentence.

The death sentence for this Electrical Engineering graduate from the "University of Tabriz" was issued after months of maintenance in solitary confinement and the extraction of forced confessions.

"Erfan Shakourzadeh" was arrested in February 2025 by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence.
