Kurdistan Region of Iraq; Suicide drone attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Kurdish political refugee camps in several stages
March 6, 2026; On the afternoon and evening of Thursday, March 5, 2026, political refugee camps of Kurdish parties were targeted in several stages and at multiple locations in the provinces of “Erbil” and “Sulaymaniyah” within the “Kurdistan Region of Iraq” by suicide drone attacks of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to reports and published images, the “Surdash Camp” located in “Sulaymaniyah” Province, which is a camp for political refugees of the “Komala” parties, as well as the political refugee camp of the “Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle (Khabat),” and the “Azadi” camp affiliated with the “Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan” located in “Erbil” Province, were targeted in several stages by suicide drone attacks of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
These attacks resulted in no fatalities, though several members of the “Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle (Khabat)” were wounded.
With the start of the conflict between the USA-Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 28, 2026, the headquarters of the parties of Iranian Kurdistan and the political refugee camps of these parties in the provinces of “Erbil” and “Sulaymaniyah” in Iraqi Kurdistan have been subjected to missile and drone attacks during recent days, as a result of which a Peshmerga from the “Kurdistan Freedom Party” had previously lost his life.
It is necessary to mention that in the political refugee camps of the Kurdish parties, the families and children of the members of these parties live, and service and public centers including hospitals, libraries, schools, and civil institutions are also located in these camps.
