March 8, 2026; In recent days, concurrent with the military conflict between Israel–USA and the Islamic Republic of Iran and the attempts by the Islamic Republic’s military forces to deploy in civilian and public locations, the people of Marivan, in a protest action, prevented the deployment of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in one of the city's stadiums through a gathering.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: On Saturday, March 7, 2026, while military forces of the IRGC were attempting to deploy in the "Musak 2" sports hall in Marivan, and the Red Crescent forces of this city were also setting up tents for the deployment of IRGC forces in the courtyard of this stadium. Following this action, a large number of citizens declared their protest by gathering at the site, and ultimately forced them to remove military weapons from the stadium and leave the location.

Based on three images provided to Kurdpa, two images show the gathering of citizens in front of this stadium, and the other image shows a vehicle belonging to the Red Crescent with a tent placed on it.

The Kurdpa Human Rights Organization strongly condemns the deployment of military forces within residential areas and public places, which can put the lives of civilians at risk. Based on the principles of International Humanitarian Law, including the principle of distinction between military and civilian targets and the principle of protecting civilians during armed conflicts, the parties to the conflict are obliged to refrain from placing military equipment and forces among the civilian population. Using civilian areas in a manner that uses people's lives as a shield against potential dangers is considered a violation of international obligations and a serious threat to the security of citizens.
