Karaj; Reza Kavoosi, a 16-Year-Old Teenager from Quchan, Identified as Another of the Deceased from January 8; Killed by a Combat Bullet to the Chest
February 24, 2026; “Reza Kavoosi,” a 16-year-old Kurmanj Kurdish teenager from city of Quchan in Khorasan Razavi Province and a resident of Karaj, has been identified as another victim of the popular protests of January 8, 2026, in the “Shahin Vila” area of Karaj. He lost his life after being shot in the chest with a combat bullet by the suppression forces of the Islamic Republic.
An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: Following his death, security forces pressured the family to declare him a “Basij member” in exchange for the release of his body. According to this source, after the family refused this demand, a sum of 750 million Tomans was extorted from them to return the body. Ultimately, he was laid to rest in city of Quchan.
Reza Kavoosi was a teenager who had moved from Quchan to Karaj for work and was employed as a mechanic's apprentice.
