Quchan Prison; 48 Days of Arbitrary Detention and Uncertainty for Mehdi Gholizadeh; Family Breadwinner and Member of a Kurmanji Kurdish Dance Group
February 24, 2026; After 48 days since the arbitrary detention of “Mehdi Gholizadeh,” a Kurdish citizen from city of Quchan in Khorasan Razavi Province, he has been transferred to Quchan Prison following the completion of interrogation in a security detention center and continues to be held in a state of uncertainty.
An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: “Mehdi Gholizadeh,” a 25-year-old Kurmanj Kurdish youth from city of Quchan, was violently detained on January 8, 2026, by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. After the interrogation period ended, he was moved to Quchan Prison, where he is currently being held in a state of legal uncertainty.
During his 48 days of detention, he has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer, as well as meetings and phone calls with his family.
Mehdi Gholizadeh was born on November 12, 2000. He is the primary breadwinner for his family, as his father has passed away.
