Esfarayen; Execution of Emad Mergan, Kurdish Prisoner, Carried Out

At dawn on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the death sentence of Emad (Ghanbar) Mergan, a Kurdish prisoner from Esfarayen in North Khorasan Province, was carried out in the central prison of this city.

This 25-year-old prisoner was arrested approximately two years ago on the charge of "premeditated murder" and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judicial system of the government of Iran.

Emad Mergan was from the village of "Sast," a suburb of Esfarayen.
