Mahabad: Younes Tanhaei Sentenced to 20 Months and One Day of Imprisonment

October 7, 2025; Younes Tanhaei, a Kurdish citizen from the village of "Hamzeh Abad" in Mahabad, was sentenced to 20 months and one day of imprisonment by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of this county, presided over by Judge "Yaser Gouzali."

According to an informed source, the sentence issued against this Kurdish citizen is final and enforceable in prison, and his sentence is not subject to laws regarding sentence reduction, mitigation, or conversion to an "open prison" (work release) verdict.

The informed source added: The court has accused Mr. Tanhaei of "cooperation with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government," and he has been deprived of the right to temporary release throughout his detention.

In late June 2025, Younes Tanhaei was arrested by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to Mahabad Prison from a security detention center after the completion of the interrogation phases.

It should be noted that Younes Tanhaei was also previously arrested by security forces on August 14, 2022, without a judicial warrant and was transferred to an unknown location.

Younes Tanhaei is married and the father of two children.
