Urmia: Amin Karimi Released on Bail After 51 Days of Pre-Trial Detention
On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Amin Karimi, also known as "Aminu", a theater artist and actor from Urmia, was released from the city’s central prison on bail after 51 days of pre-trial detention.
On Monday, August 11, 2025, after the completion of his interrogation, this artist was transferred from the Intelligence Department’s detention center to Urmia Central Prison.
Amin Karimi had also been previously arrested by security forces during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” revolutionary uprising, and was released after one month of interrogation.
His recent series, "Tajdin and Amina", directed by Mr. Karimi, had received a warm reception from audiences.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Amin Karimi was arrested by security forces at the Sero border terminal in Urmia while returning from Turkey. So far, the reasons for his arrest and the charges against him remain unclear.
