End of Sentence for Abdollah Sharifzadeh, Member of the “Halo” Mountaineering Group in Saqqez

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, the sentence of Abdollah Sharifzadeh, a member of the Halo Mountaineering Group in Saqqez, which had been converted to restricted movement under electronic ankle monitoring, came to an end.

This prisoner had been released under electronic monitoring after serving three months of his prison sentence in Saqqez Prison.

On Sunday, October 20, 2024, this member of the Halo Mountaineering Group in Saqqez was transferred to Saqqez Prison to serve his sentence.

He had been sentenced in absentia by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez, presided over by Judge Javad Mostafaei, to 10 months of discretionary imprisonment (ta’zir).

The court sentenced this member of the Halo Mountaineering Group in Saqqez based on a report by the Intelligence Office, accusing him of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran and in favor of one of the Kurdish opposition parties.”

The trial session for this Kurdish citizen was held on Sunday, March 12, 2024, and this verdict was later communicated to him.

In the winter of 2024, Abdollah Sharifzadeh had been arrested by security forces and was temporarily released after one day in detention upon posting bail.
