Mahabad; Naser Ahmadzadeh Sent to Prison to Serve His Sentence

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, Naser Ahmadzadeh, a citizen from Mahabad, was sent to the city’s prison to serve his sentence.

This political prisoner had previously been sentenced by the Mahabad Revolutionary Court to 39 months of discretionary imprisonment (ta’zir) on the charge of “acting against national security through collaboration with one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government.” After requesting taslim be ray (acceptance of the ruling), the sentence was reduced to 15 months of discretionary imprisonment.

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Mr. Ahmadzadeh was temporarily released from Mahabad Prison on bail.

After completion of interrogation procedures in a security detention center, this citizen was transferred to Mahabad Prison and then released on a bail of 1 billion tomans.

At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, security forces raided this Kurdish citizen’s private home in the “Kani Soofi Rashid” neighborhood of Mahabad without presenting a judicial warrant and arrested him.

Naser Ahmadzadeh, 33 years old, is married and has a child.

This Kurdish citizen had also been arrested on Monday, August 15, 2022, by security forces without a judicial warrant, and was released on Monday, September 4, 2022, from Mahabad Prison after posting bail of 500 million tomans.
