Saqqez; Rahman Rahimpour Sentenced to Prison and Fine on Charge of “Propaganda Against the State”

Rahman Rahimpour, a Kurdish citizen from Saqqez, was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of this city to five months of suspended imprisonment for two years and a fine of 10 million tomans on the charge of “propaganda against the state.”

According to an informed source, this verdict was notified to Mr. Rahimpour in recent days.

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, this political prisoner was temporarily released from Saqqez Prison on bail until the completion of trial proceedings.

During his detention, this Kurdish citizen was denied access to a lawyer and family visits.

He had been transferred to the Shahramfar detention center in Sanandaj for interrogation and, after completion of questioning, was transferred back to Saqqez Prison.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Mr. Rahimpour had been arrested by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant.

Earlier, on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, Rahman Rahimpour was arrested in Laleh Park, Saqqez, by security forces on charges of “collaboration with one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government” without a judicial warrant. After the interrogation period, he was temporarily released on bail until the end of legal proceedings.

In December 2020, Mr. Rahimpour was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez to 10 months of discretionary imprisonment (ta’zir) on the charge of “propaganda against the state in favor of one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government.”

This political prisoner was transferred to Saqqez Prison on Saturday, July 3, 2021 to serve his prison sentence, and in December 2021 he was released after completing his term of imprisonment.
