On Monday, June 23, 2025, Soleiman Qader Galwan, brother of Abdolsalam Qader Galwan—one of those killed during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" uprising—was arrested by security forces.

According to a reliable source, security personnel detained the Kurdish citizen at his family home without presenting a judicial warrant.

The source further stated that security agents gained access to Mr. Galwan’s personal Instagram account and used it to publish posts in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of this report, the reasons for his arrest and any charges brought against him remain unknown.

This is not Mr. Galwan’s first encounter with security forces. In the early hours of Sunday, July 9, 2023, Intelligence Ministry agents in Oshnavieh violently arrested him and subjected him to severe physical abuse and degrading treatment while in custody. Subsequently, they also desecrated the grave of his deceased brother.

Abdolsalam Qader Galwan, son of Nader, succumbed to severe injuries on September 26, 2022, at a hospital in Urmia. He had been critically wounded during protests in Oshnavieh on September 21, 2022.
