Ilam; Sasan Chamanara was released
On January 24th, Sasan Chamanara, a Kurdish artist from Ilam and one of the detainees of the revolutionary uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi, was released on bail temporarily until the end of the judicial proceedings.
According to an informed source, the charge against this artist is "propaganda against the regime in favor of opposition groups".
On January 17th, three security forces raided the home of Sasan Chamanara, searched the house, arrested him, and transferred him to the Ilam Intelligence Detention Center.
On February 23rd, 2023, Sasan Chamanara was released from Tehran's Grand Prison after 109 days of detention by depositing a bail of 500 million Tomans temporarily until the end of his case in the appeals court.
This 33-year-old artist was sentenced to five years of imprisonment for "assembly and collusion against national security and propaganda against the regime" by Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Judge "Seyed Ali Mazloum", and this verdict was confirmed in the appeals court.
Mr. Chamanara was deprived of access to a lawyer of his choice during his detention and only had access to it when he appeared in court.
The lawyer of this artist had access to his client's case only once before the court session and did not have the opportunity and possibility of defense in the court session.
Sasan Chamanara was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant on October 7th, 2023, for participating in the protests and spent 21 days in the "One Alpha" detention center of the Sepah Intelligence Organization and 18 days in the "209 Evin Prison" belonging to the Ministry of Intelligence.
This artist was tortured and mistreated by security forces during his detention and had a one-minute phone call with his family after a month of detention.
Mr. Chamanara was transferred to Tehran's Grand Prison after the completion of the interrogation and went on a hunger strike in protest of the detention conditions and lack of access to medicine.
