Seivan Ebrahimi, a Kurdish language teacher and a board member of the cultural and social association "Nojin", was sentenced to 11 years in prison

Seivan Ebrahimi, a Kurdish language teacher and a board member of the cultural and social association "Nojin", was convicted by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, presided over by Judge "Kermi", to 11 years of correctional imprisonment.

The court convicted this Kurdish language teacher of "forming groups and factions with disrupted country's security" to 10 years of correctional imprisonment and of "propaganda against the system" to one year of correctional imprisonment.

On December 2, 2023, this verdict was officially communicated to Mr. Ebrahimi.

The hearing of the charges against this civil activist was held on November 3, 2023, in Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj.

Seivan Ebrahimi was also sentenced in August 2023 by Branch 106 of the Criminal Court of Sanandaj to one year of correctional imprisonment, exile to Diesel Abad Prison in Kermanshah, and 40 lashes for "disturbing public order" and on Sunday, December 2, 2023, the imprisonment and flogging verdict of this member of "Nojin" was confirmed by Branch 12 of the Court of Appeal of Kurdistan Province and his exile sentence to Diesel Abad Prison in Kermanshah was canceled and he had to spend his sentence in Sanandaj Prison.

On February 13, 2023, Seivan Ebrahimi was temporarily released on bail until the end of the judicial proceedings.

This Kurdish language teacher was deprived of access to a lawyer and meeting with his family during his detention.

On January 17, 2023, Mr. Ebrahimi was arrested by security forces without presenting a judicial warrant.

On January 3, 2023, Seivan Ebrahimi was also arrested by security forces while following up on the case of his wife Zahra Mohammadi in the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj and was released on bail on January 5, 2023.

In this regard, in October 2023, Idris Manbari, a board member of the cultural and social association "Nojin" and Srvah Pourmohammadi, a member of the cultural and social association "Nojin" were each sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, presided over by Judge "Karami", to 10 years of correctional imprisonment for "forming groups and factions to disrupt the country's security".
