Kurdpa - Figures released by Iran’s labor organizations indicate that most working class people live below the official poverty line, and do not earn enough to support their families.

Furthermore former Labor Minister Hassan Kamali told the ILNA news agency that over 700,000 retired Iranians had inadequate pensions and had been forced to go back to work. He added:

“There are few job opportunities for young people, who also refuse many of the jobs that do exist because of the low wages offered. They stay living with their parents, putting an extra burden on family resources. The cycle of economic hardship has led to more divorce, fewer marriages and an increase in the number of drug addicts and criminals in our country.”
