September 14, 2026; More than four months after the arbitrary arrest of "Youssef Kolonkzadeh," a Kurdish language instructor and translator from Urmia, he remains held in legal limbo in the Central Prison of Urmia without access to legal representation or family visitation rights.

An informed source confirmed the news to Kurdpa, stating that despite repeated appeals for his temporary release on bail and access to a lawyer, he continues to be held in arbitrary detention. The court’s approval for his temporary release on bail has been repeatedly blocked under orders from security agencies.

Youssef Kolonkzadeh was arbitrarily arrested without a judicial warrant by security forces in late April/early May 2026 and transferred to an undisclosed location. On July 10, 2026, Kurdpa previously reported that he was being held in Urmia Prison in a state of legal uncertainty and denied the right to temporary release on bail.

As of the publication of this report, the official reasons for his arrest and the charges brought against him remain unknown, with security authorities refusing to provide any explanation. Throughout his detention, he has been denied access to a lawyer and family visits in Urmia Prison, as well as telephone contact with his family during his initial interrogation in the security detention facility.
